This Privacy Policy explains how SmartShelf ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information. The App is operated by Johannes Forseth as an individual developer. If you have questions, contact us at johan@simplyforseth.com.

1. Data Collected

No User Account or Login

The App does not require users to create an account or log in. We do not collect personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or physical addresses.

Non-Personal Data

The App may collect non-personal usage data to understand how users interact with the App (e.g., feature usage frequency, error logs). This data, if collected, is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

Third-Party Services (OpenAI API)

The App may send text queries or prompts to the OpenAI API to provide certain AI-powered features (e.g., generating ingredients, products, exp. date.). This process may involve transmitting user-entered text to OpenAI's servers. We do not store these prompts. However, OpenAI may process and temporarily store the data as per their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy for more information.

2. How We Use Data

  • Improving the App: Any non-personal usage data is used to enhance App performance, improve features, and ensure stability.
  • Third-Party Processing (OpenAI): The textual content you provide to the App may be forwarded to OpenAI's API to generate responses. We do not store or share this content beyond what is needed to fulfill the service.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • No Sale of Data: We do not sell your data.
  • Service Providers: We may use trusted third-party services (like OpenAI) to operate the App and its features. They have access only to the data required to perform their tasks and must not use it for other purposes.

4. Data Retention

We do not store personal information as no personal data is collected. Temporary data used for processing (e.g., AI queries) is not retained after the function is performed.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data transmissions and the limited data we handle. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Choices

  • No Personal Data to Delete: Since we do not store personal data, there is no personal information to delete or modify.
  • Third-Party Privacy: For AI processing, review OpenAI's policies. You may choose not to use features that send data to OpenAI if you are uncomfortable with their terms.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated Policy.
